WinKill lets you temporarily disable the Windows key on your keyboard without rebooting your computer.
This is useful if you're always hitting the Windows &/or Capslock key when playing games.
Click the WinKill icon in the system tray to use it as a system-wide Windows key disabler or toggle it on/off with the "Pause"/"Break" key (default, now user-configurable).
Right-click the icon to see the current version at the top of the menu, open the settings dialog, or choose Exit to quit completely.
New builds are published automatically as a clean in-place .msi installer, numbered yyyy.mm.dd-BUILD#.
- Caps Lock Blocking: Optionally block the Caps Lock key as well, right from the settings dialog.
- Version in Tray Menu: The right-click menu and tray tooltip show the current version number.
- Versioned Releases: Each build is numbered yyyy.mm.dd-BUILD# and published automatically to GitHub Releases.
- Autostart Option: Enable or disable automatic startup with Windows via the settings dialog.
- Startup State: Choose whether the application starts in "active" or "inactive" mode (tray icon reflects state).
- User-Configurable Hotkey: Set your own global hotkey (with modifiers like Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Win) to toggle the app, instead of the default Pause/Break key.
- System Tray Integration: Tray icon visually indicates active/inactive state.
- .msi Installer: New .msi installer makes installing and uninstalling a breeze, and each new build upgrades cleanly over previously installed versions.
